The Landworkers' Alliance held an event called Agroecology in Action – presentations and policy recommendations by farmers across the UK who are creating a food system that restores nature whist providing healthy affordable food for the UK.
Second day at Forty Hall Farm, Enfield, London
This policy workshop brought together farmers, foresters, community food growers, food activists, and public interest groups to develop policy recommendations for key government consultations on the National Food Strategy and the emerging Environmental Land Management Schemes.
The following topics were discussed:
1) Proposed Environmental Land Management Schemes including sustainable farming transition, payments for public goods, landscape-scale ecosystem restoration.
2) National Food Strategy and House of Lords enquiry into food poverty,
3) Post EU Markets and the Shared Prosperity Fund,
It was an important opportunity to feed into the Post-Brexit support schemes that may affect land use for decades.
